PERSISTENCE IN PRAYERS
Prayer is defined as the act of communicating with a deity. People of various religious faith pray in different ways. The method the Almighty God ask Christians to pray is in the name of Jesus. Jesus said in John 14:13-14 that "Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." All requests to God should be in the name of Jesus.
Whenever we pray with faith, God is always ready to answer us. We shall look at the teachings of Jesus on prayers in the Scriptures as regards being persistent.
1. PERSISTENCE IN PRAYERS - FRIEND AT MIDNIGHT
We need ourselves in this world. No one is all sufficient. Jesus told a story of a person who had nothing to give his visitor. At midnight, he went to ask for three loaves of bread, just enough to feed his hungry friend. The offer was turned down because of the inconveniences of disturbing the family and getting up to give him the bread he needed so dearly.
His friend refused to take a "NO" for an answer. He continued to make his request until it was granted. Jesus taught a great lesson from this story. Jesus says in Luke 11:9-10 "... I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."
· ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE
If you know the will of God concerning a matter, ask and you will receive it. God answers prayers on the spot. You don't have to wait all the time.
· SEEK AND YOU WILL FIND
It's possible you do not know God's will on a matter. God will not give you what is contrary to the Scriptures. What you have to do is to first; is to find out what His will is. After that, ask according to His will and you will receive.
· KNOCK AND IT WILL BE OPENED UNTO YOU
It's possible you are asking according to God's will and yet you are not getting the answer you require. What you have to do is to be persistent. Do not give up. Continue to knock until the answer comes.
It's also possible you have sought God's will and ask but no answer. Jesus' teaching here is that, you should not give up. Continue to knock until the door is opened for you to receive.
Beloved, you can get answers to ALL your requests though this principle: ASKING, SEEKING and KNOCKING. Try it and your prayer life will be transformed to God's glory.
2. PERSISTENCE IN PRAYERS-THE UNJUST JUDGE
This same lesson is taught in the parable of the unjust judge. The widow knew her rights. She continued to make her requests until the unjust judge gave his verdict in her favour. Jesus in Luke 18:1 "...told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart."
What do you want from God? Do not give up. Make sure you continue to PUSH i.e. Pray Until Something Happens. I need to add that after you have finished praying, God will decide how to answer you. Since God is very loving, all knowing and every where, He will always give you what is best for you, even if it hurts. May God grant you understanding in Jesus name.
