POLITICS: HOW FAR CAN THE CHRISTIAN GO?
There are many professions in life. These include; teaching, administration, medical practice, armed forces, business, etc. Christians have done extremely well, without comprising their faith, in virtually all of them. Even though there are several problems in these different fields, our brethren have been able to surmount all and come out excellently. There is however a profession that Christians call dirty. That profession is politics. As a result of our inability to cope and thereby leaving it to the non Christians, the Church has suffered untold hardship and persecution.

Today, we shall look at governance from the Bible point of view. God told Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:32b that "... you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” Beloved, do you think that God will prefer to give the rulership of the land to a child of the Devil instead of a Christian (a child of God)? Think about this.
Paul in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 admonishes us this way, "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." God desires all leaders to be saved. If Christians are in these positions, our prayers for them will not be salvation of their souls but that they should rule well.
Joseph excelled to the highest position in his days without selling his faith to buy sin. By his involvement in governance, he saved his generation from starving to death. Daniel was deputy to the king in Babylon. He was relevant to all the Kings that ruled in his life time. He did not compromise his faith. Beloved, Christians can do the same or even better.
Dearly beloved of God, the Church need to raise men and women to take over governance in Nigeria. God has blessed the church with what it takes to rule and lead the nation. We have the number when it comes to voting. We have the integrity. We have the brain. We can easily get a vision for our nation, Nigeria, from God. Joseph excelled by getting a vision for his generation from God. You can do the same or even better. It was such a vision that made Joseph relevant in the Egyptian government. It was such a vision that gave Daniel a place in the governance of all the Kings in Babylon throughout his life time. It was such a vision that made men like Nehemiah rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. It was such a vision that made Mordecai save his generation from extinction. Women were not left out of this. Women of vision like Deborah worked with army generals and Esther declared; "if I perish, I perish."
Beloved, we need to contend for the faith that was handed over to us. Persecution of Christians is highest in our generation. This is because we left rulership and governance in the hands of the enemies of Christians. Mordecai did not allow Haman execute his wicked plan against the Jews. Why? He was involved in governance in his time. You too can get a vision for Nigeria and be involved in rulership and governance.
Beloved, it's time for Christians to take their place in rulership and governance in Nigeria. May you occupy for Him efficiency and effectively till He comes in Jesus name.
Maranatha.
